Up to 19 employees at least one, from 20 to 29 two, and one additional for every further 10 — as set out in § 40 of the Workplace Ordinance (AStV).
What counts is the number of employees regularly working at the same time. In shift operations, enough first aiders must be present in every shift.
The basic training covers 16 hours. After that, an eight-hour refresher every four years or a four-hour refresher every two years is sufficient.
The training of company first aiders is based on § 26 ASchG and § 40 AStV.
