Answered briefly

Do I need a licence for a mobile elevating work platform?

There is no statutory licence as for forklifts or cranes. However, the employer must be able to prove that their staff can operate the platform safely.

The answer in detail

The FK-V requires a proof of competence only for certain work, such as cranes and forklifts. It does not apply to mobile elevating work platforms.

Still, not everyone may simply step in: under § 14 ASchG the employer must give staff documented instruction — on the machine, the hazards and rescue from height. A training course with a certificate is the simplest proof.

Our training follows the international standard ISO 18878 and the DGUV principle 308-008 and is therefore valid throughout Europe.
