Your benefit

After passing the theory and practical exam you receive the forklift operator licence (Hubstaplerführerausweis). It entitles you to drive and operate forklifts and industrial trucks. Your employer can then deploy you on a forklift in compliance with the law, and you know what really matters for stability, the load chart and everyday forklift work.

Legal basis: * The legal scope: 17.5 teaching units of theory, 2 flexible units and one practical unit per participant, at least 20.5 units of 50 minutes each in total. Because every participant has their own practical unit, the course length grows with the size of the group; for larger groups we plan a third day. Training under §§ 5 and 6 item 2 and Annex 2 of the Austrian Fachkenntnisnachweis-Verordnung, BGBl. II No. 13/2007, exam under § 10, and in line with the Austrian Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Work Equipment Ordinance.

How long does the forklift licence take?

The law requires at least 20.5 teaching units of 50 minutes each, including a separate practical unit for every participant (Austrian Fachkenntnisnachweis-Verordnung, BGBl. II No. 13/2007). The actual length therefore depends on the size of the group; for larger groups we plan a third day.

What do I need to bring?

Photo ID, sturdy footwear and work clothes. We take the photo for the licence during the course.

Where does the forklift course take place?

In Salzburg at Bildungszentrum Logistik, Rottfeld 7, at our partners from Tyrol to Vienna, or as in-house training directly at your company.

How long is it valid?

The forklift operator licence (Hubstaplerführerausweis) does not expire. However, employers must instruct their drivers regularly under § 14 of the Austrian Occupational Safety and Health Act (ASchG) — we recommend once a year.
